For the inaugural rounds of the Guitar Division at EYMF 2026, participants of all age groups are welcome to compete in the Solo, Duet, and Ensemble categories. Please note that the Guitar Division follows
classical guitar conventions and is offered exclusively at the regional level as an independent event, with no advancement to the Finals.
Solo Performance
The guitar division welcomes participants of all nationalities and accepts applications in the following age groups and division. The participant’s age group is determined by the Year of Birth.
Age Groups and Division
- Junior Division: Ages 13 and Below (born in or after 2013)
- Youth Division: Ages 17 and Below (born in or after 2009)
- Open Division: Ages 18 and Above (born in or before 2008)

Duet Category: Classical Guitar
The Duet Category explores a wide range of musical genres and styles, and provides participants with the chance to showcase their ability to synergize and collaborate as a pair.
Divisions and Age Groups
The age groups determine the entry division with the participant’s age determined by the year of birth, regardless of month.
- Junior Division: Sum of ages 24 and below.
- Open Division: No age limit.
Performance Requirements
- A balanced programme consisting of at least two contrasting works, not exceeding 5 minutes (Junior Division) and 8 minutes (Open Division).

Ensemble Category: Classical Guitar
The Ensemble Category is designed to provide musicians experience working together, giving young performers a place to practice ensemble skills, musical awareness and teamwork. It provides an opportunity to participate in the joy of making music together while raising important artistic and interpersonal development.
Performance Requirement
- Two contrasting pieces not exceeding 10 minutes inclusive of break in between items.
- The ensemble category is open to a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 players.
